Well well well dear readers, what a wonderful wedding we have to share with you today. Hold on to your seats, this industrial chic warehouse wedding will give you so many ideas and leave you inspired to have a city wedding for sure.
WWW readers Katie and Michael tied the knot on Friday 14th April 2017 at the uber cool Trinity Buoy Wharf in London. The venue oozes urban style and boasts ample space, plus sensational views over the Thames. The couple made the most of the position by treating guests to a river cruise after the ceremony for their drinks reception too, such a lovely touch. A day that flowed and was relaxed and enjoyable for guests was at the heart of their planning. So of course delicious cuisine as well as a free bar was a top priority for the pair. The cocktails and evening pizza also sounded pretty special, as did the live band by Tailored Entertainment’s Festival Sons.
The styling and outfit choices were out of this world. The décor was all greenery and whites, with flowers everywhere, festoon lights and wooden touches. One of my fave things is bridesmaids in tops and skirts and today’s girls looked marvellous in their metallic skirts. Katie was a vision in her billowing Charlie Brear Ventoux dress and gold heels, while Michael wore a sharp Reiss suit. Wow.

THE PROPOSAL | After meeting 10 years previously at University of Sussex, Michael finally popped the question after a night of bar hopping in Paris following two failed attempts earlier on in the day as things didn’t go according to plan.
THE VISION | A day for the guests. Our philosophy was if the guests were happy then we would be happy. We wanted a relaxed and informal day that flowed and where everyone came together.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | We started the process by deciding to get married in London, with a Bride from Yorkshire and Groom from Essex and a large friendship group from Brighton/London there were a lot of places that meant something. However, when we came across Trinity Buoy Wharf it ticked all the boxes with one big must being that everything was in one room so that everyone stayed together (and the dancefloor was always full) and another being that it was a dry hire venue so we could make it personal (the option of having a drinks reception cruise along the Thames was a big bonus).
The venue also has a view out to Greenwich with the O2 in the background which was perfect given we moved into our first home together in Greenwich. Once we had the venue booked everything fell into place, finding main suppliers through searching for previous Trinity Buoy Wharf weddings on the internet and picking bits we liked for our wedding from each one.
The other two musts for our wedding were plenty of food and a band.

FINDING THE DRESS | There was a lot of ‘milking it’ when it came to looking for the dress as I enjoyed the girly shopping days with my mum so much, although oddly there were a lot of nerves too about finding “the one”. I started by researching designers that I liked and then finding out where they were stocked in London and Brighton and took it from there. Once I tried on the first Charlie Brear dress I knew that their contemporary but timeless pieces were the winner, so I booked a consultation at their flagship store and found the perfect combination. The staff were all so lovely and made me feel relaxed instantly.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Entry of the Bride: Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra. First Dance: Grow Old with Me by Tom Odell. Evening Music: Vintage and Electric Sets by Festival Sons.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | For every blonde bride there are 5 beautiful brunette bridesmaids – Lauren, Helen, Kate, Rachel and Steph. They were all amazing from working non-stop the day before (from painting card boxes to building giant photo frames) to running around on the day making sure everything flowed perfectly.
The bridesmaid’s outfits were sourced from the high street with the skirts from Zara and tops from Oasis. Following a successful trip finding the wedding dress with my mum, we walked into Zara and found the perfect skirts to compliment the décor.
And not forgetting the lovely flower girls – Millie, Lily, Lucie and Ruby. Their excitement really made the day.
THE CATERERS | With the venue being a dry hire the choice of caterers were so important as they organise everything from set up to clear up; and Tasting Plates definitely did not disappoint, they were incredible. We chose Sara and Martin of Tasting Plates as their name kept coming up when researching other people’s weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf and when we tasted the food we knew that they were perfect for the wedding we had planned in our heads. Trying to continue with the “theme” of bringing everyone together, we decided to have big antipasti plate to share, which went down a storm with our guests (some even thought this was the main due to how big it was). Given that they had done so many weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf they were really good at giving us pointers for things we had not thought of and putting forward suggestions to ensure that the day flowed as we wanted.
As the venue was dry hire we were able to provide a free bar which was run by Sara and Martin. Sara suggested that from her previous experience that providing some cocktails through the day was a really nice touch and that Espresso Martini’s post dinner were a must to get everyone back on their feet to dance and boy did this do the trick. The G&T’s and cocktails went down really well with guests (maybe a little too well!).
The day went so smoothly and this was down to their professionalism and expertise.
In the evening we wanted to make sure that the guests who arrived for the reception didn’t go hungry, so we hired the pizza services of Van Dough, who were incredibly helpful and were happy to provide a menu with any wacky pizza (Hawaiian!) we desired.
THE FLOWERS | Katie – The Flower Hut Greenwich. Lots of green and foliage with simple white flowers.
THE CAKE | The wedding cake was made by Katie’s very talented Auntie Lynn, with the dessert table also being the work of Auntie Marg, a real family affair.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Sasha – Sasha Weddings. Sasha was fabulous; she really listened to what we were wanting and just got on with it. We absolutely loved all the photos, looking through the natural shots evoked so many memories from the day that we would have forgotten.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Rustic, urban, industrial-chic with metallic tones (copper, bronze, gold) and green/foliage/white flowers. And festoon lighting to set the mood.
Our family really helped out in sourcing decorations with the majority of the lanterns, plant pots and tea lights being from TK Maxx, H&M Home and Tesco. We were also had the wonderful surprise from Katie’s uncle who had made all of the wooden blocks for the table decorations, cake stand and the beautiful engraved charger plates.
THE HONEYMOON | A Canadian adventure at Christmas.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | It’s so difficult to choose there were so many. The Father of the Bride speech had everyone in tears; Meeting down the aisle was a pretty magical moment. Then there is the moment we would probably like to forget, getting locked out of our house at the end of the night because one of the groomsmen had gone home with our keys, but the story certainly provided some laughs the next day at breakfast.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | During the organisation don’t get hung up on the little things the day will be perfect. Also make sure on the day that you take some time out to spend time on your own together because it goes by in a flash.
